I know what you’re thinking. You’ve been subsisting on cookies and mulled wine for days, and it’s not even Christmas yet! Believe me, I know. I’ve managed to squeeze in a few workouts here and there, but I’m pretty much in the same boat. But stick with me, it gets better. Cake.
My boyfriend’s birthday was last week, so I kicked off the holiday indulgences with a badass layer cake. Makes sense, right? He requested a yellow cake with chocolate frosting, so I found the perfect recipe, courtesy of Martha Stewart. I’ve been testing a lot of her recipes lately and so far she hasn’t steered me wrong.
Even though I reduced this recipe from three layers down to two, we ended up with a LOT of cake. Bake with caution.
I’ve been cooking and baking up a storm lately, and you know what? I’ve decided to just roll with the sweets, the booze, the braised meats, and the endless appetizers. ‘Tis the season, and all that. I’ll have plenty of time in 2014 to eat salads. BRING ON THE CAKE!
You can find the full recipe for this sweet, fluffy monster on Martha Stewart.
